I was commissioned by the sydney magazine one day to style the home of designer and artist, Maria Villa. I jumped in the car, plugged her address into the gps and drove to instruction. I thought the gps was having a moment when within less than two minutes I was at my destination. Maria, as it transpired, lives three streets away from me! She is talented, warm and has one of those velvety Argentinian accent. You know the ones. She is about the renovate the home she shares with dashing husband, architect Richardo, son Matteo and Irish, the dog. I cant wait to see it after the dust has settled. Here is 5 things you never knew about her, even if you have seen her lovely spirited work here.
1. I don’t drive. Yes, I know. Please don’t ask!
2. I have an incontrollable love for candles. I love dinners by candle light. In my opinion, they are the incredibly chic.
3. My favourite colour combo’s are – burnt orange, sepias, chocolate browns together with turquoise vintage blues. And forever emerald greens! (MV, you owe us an answer – as if we didn’t know this!)
4. I sound like I just landed, even though I have been in Australia for 16 years!
5. I like Filipe Lisboa gold pendant lights (used to great affect in Sydney Dance Lounge new bar. Swisho, see below. mm)
